The story behind UniqueBlends

Unique Blends began upon my journey with my son Nathaniel who has additional needs and an autism diagnosis. I’ve always wanted to find ways to help and support him naturally and if I believed what both medical and educational professionals told me, the progress seen wouldn’t have been witnessed.

He would have remained:

-non/pre-verbal

-unable to read

-unable to write

-unable to focus for more than 5 minutes

-unable to understand instructions

-dependent on others to complete basic life skills

-constantly dysregulated and anxious

The list goes on (as you know!) but identifying non-invasive, holistic ways to help Nathaniel that went beyond Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy sessions led me to various services, products, plans and tweaks in the house that has contributed to what feels like daily wins that most take for granted like:

-asking questions

-answering questions

-conversating

-independence

-writing

-reading

-the ability to accept constructive criticism that previously caused him to become unsettled

One of the approaches I incorporated into Nathaniel’s journey was creating essential oil blends tailored to his individual needs, taking into account the challenges he was facing and the areas where I felt I could offer additional support.

I also began creating blends for myself, recognising that raising a child with additional needs doesn’t just affect the child, but also their parents, carers and the wider family. Essential oils became part of our daily routines, and I believe they have played a role alongside the other approaches I’ve introduced in supporting some of the positive changes I’ve witnessed.

These experiences inspired me to deepen my knowledge and understanding of essential oils. I am now a qualified Practitioner in Essential Oil Therapy. My hope is to use this knowledge to create thoughtfully formulated, personalised blends that may support the emotional wellbeing, relaxation and everyday comfort of other children and adults.

I will handcraft a blend specifically for both you and your child, and there will be no other blend in existence-this is what makes the blend truly unique.
